Step inside, paint a picture, make a playdough spider, build a castle, be Goldilocks and eat all of the porridge, make a Lego ice cream on the Ipad, sail a boat with the ducks and dolphins in the water tray, make patterns in the gloop, make a magic potion, do a jigsaw, share a book.  In the garden, bake a cake in the mud kitchen, ride a bike around the track, serve customers in the flower shop, dig for worms, hunt for bugs, score a goal, write a letter,  explore the woods or sit and make sandcastles in the giant sandpit with your friends.

Every day is different, but every day I thank my lucky stars that this is where I work and play and learn with the marvellous, enchanting and delightful children of Rothwell and beyond.

The Nursery has been open for over 20 years, and I have worked here since 2003, initially as a part-time teacher, and then taking on the role of Nursery Leader in 2009.  We are blessed with a strong team of kind, funny, experienced and well qualified Early Years Practitioners, and together we focus on supporting and growing happy, secure,  independent and well settled children, and on creating and nurturing strong relationships with parents and families.  Each child has their own key person who is there to greet them each day, have a chat with their grown up, and to settle them until they feel ready to move on.  Staff and families work closely together, starting with a home visit before the children join us in September, and then throughout the year, exchanging information and ideas, having fun together on trips and family open days, culminating in a picnic and graduation day at the end of the Summer term.

The Nursery environment is such a huge part of the experience here,  and we are fortunate to have  a great space for the children to investigate, explore and express themselves.  The setting is bright and colourful, open and airy, with designated areas for children to be creative, painting, drawing and making, and to explore and play with sand and water in the wet area.  In the dry area, we have a home corner, puzzle, maths and discovery tables, Ipads and laptops, small world play and construction areas, to name but a few.  And outside, we have a large undercover area so children can play whatever  the weather.  There is a huge sandpit, climbing apparatus and slides, an imaginative play area, a mud kitchen, digging areas and the woods, and plenty more besides.

Our aims are to provide our children with the means to blossom and grow, to become resilient, curious, sociable, caring, confident, independent and happy school-ready  learners.
We hope that you can join us in September.  If you would like to come and take a look at our setting, and to meet the staff, please call the main school office on 01536 710363, and they will be happy to arrange a visit for you and your child.
